背姑娘過河

師父帶著徒弟一起出外參訪道友。遇到一條小河，師徒二人正準備渡河的時候，來了一位穿著時髦的年青小姐，焦慮苦惱著不知如何渡河。師父耗不猶疑，背姑娘過河。

過了些時日，徒弟一直悶在心裡，終於提起勇氣問師父:「出家人勿近女色，師父那天背著姑娘過河，是否有違佛門清規?」師父說:「我背著姑娘，早就已經放下。你沒有背她，為何到現在還放不下?」

Carry the girl across the river

A master and his apprentice went out to visit fellow practicians. They encountered a small river. When the master and apprentice were preparing to cross the river, a modern young lady was annoyed and worried about how to cross the river.

Without hesitation, the master carried the modern lady on his back, and crossed the river.

Few days later, the apprentice remained bored, and eventually raised his courage to ask the Master: "Monks shouldn’t approach females or sex. Master crossed the river with the lady on your back that day. Does it violate the Buddhist rules?''

Master said: "I was the one who carried, and I had let go. You were the one who didn't carry. But why you still can not let it go by now?''
